Mt. Chirripo is the hightest peak in Costa Rica
and at 13,000 feet affords beautiful views and cool
temperatures. The park entrance and hiking trail
begins in San Gerardo de Rivas, which can be
accessed by bus from San Isidro or by private
vehicle or taxi. This is a full-day trip and most
visitors prefer to spend the night at the summit
lodge and hike down the next day. Las Aguas can
store luggage for guests who spend the night off
the property. Reservations for the summit lodge
can be made by visiting the Park Office in San
Isidro. Overnight visitors should bring heavy
clothing suitable for sleeping in potentially near
freezing temperatures.
